Anna Smrek

Anna Smrek is a nationally recognized standout in collegiate volleyball, excelling as both a middle blocker and right-side hitter for the University of Wisconsin Badgers. Known for her exceptional height, refined technique, and commanding presence at the net, Smrek has become one of the most impactful players in the Big Ten and a cornerstone of Wisconsin’s championship ambitions. Her blend of efficiency, composure, and competitive intensity consistently elevates the Badgers in high-pressure moments.

A native of Welland, Ontario, Smrek developed her game through top Canadian club programs and international competition. Representing the Canadian Youth National Team, she competed in major events such as the NORCECA Championships and the FIVB U18 World Championship, establishing herself early as an elite blocker with advanced athleticism. By the end of her high school career, she was widely regarded as one of the top young volleyball prospects in North America.

Smrek made an immediate impact at Wisconsin, helping lead the Badgers to their first NCAA Championship as a freshman and earning Most Outstanding Player honors following a historic postseason performance. Since then, she has continued to grow into a dominant, versatile scorer, collecting All-American and All-Big Ten honors while ranking among team leaders in kills, blocks, and hitting percentage. Under head coach Kelly Sheffield, she has refined her decision-making and become a reliable presence in every phase of the game. Off the court, Smrek is known for her humility, academic focus, and commitment to community involvement.
