Drake Lindsey - Player Bio
Drake Lindsey has emerged as one of the Big Ten’s most intriguing young quarterbacks and a central figure in the future of Minnesota football. Now at the University of Minnesota, Lindsey combines natural arm talent with poise, preparation, and a calm command of the pocket that has quickly earned trust within the program.
His 2025 season marked his breakout as a full-time starter. Lindsey won the job in fall camp and started every regular-season game, throwing for 2,235 yards, 16 touchdowns, and just six interceptions while leading the Golden Gophers to a 7–5 record. He showed maturity early by winning his first career start in the rivalry game against Wisconsin and earned Big Ten Freshman of the Week honors after efficient performances against Buffalo and Northwestern State. His best outing came against Rutgers, where he passed for 324 yards and three touchdowns, followed later by a four-touchdown game at Northwestern and a game-sealing overtime run versus Michigan State.
Lindsey redshirted in 2024 but appeared in three games, flashing command and confidence while throwing his first collegiate touchdown against Nevada. Before college, he starred at Fayetteville High School in Arkansas, leading his team to a 13–0 record and state championship. As a senior, he threw for 3,941 yards and 54 touchdowns, earning Arkansas Gatorade Player of the Year honors.
Lindsey comes from a deep athletic lineage, including Arkansas standouts and his grandfather, Jim Lindsey, a member of the Minnesota Vikings’ famed 1960s teams. Off the field, he remains active in youth camps and community outreach. With steady growth, leadership, and production, Lindsey is positioning himself as a cornerstone quarterback for Minnesota in the years ahead.
